Comprehensive Dental Exams.
Dental Check-ups. Teeth Cleanings. Fluoride. Oral Cancer Screenings.
Staying Healthy Starts Here.
Remember when a regular dental check-up meant having uncomfortable x-ray bite wings put into your mouth, then having your teeth polished?
Times have changed. These days, dental exams involve a lot more than having your teeth x-rayed and cleaned. Dental exams are more thorough, proactive and comfortable than ever.
For optimal oral health, Dr. Tzendzalian recommends you visit for a comprehensive exam and a cleaning visit every 6 months.
The frequency of your visits combined with our advanced diagnostic technologies, allow us to detect problems while they're small. Smaller problems are not only easier to fix, the process of restoration is also more comfortable and affordable.
The annual comprehensive exam is extensive and includes:
• Examination of teeth with intraoral camera and digital x-rays
• Periodontal (gum) exam
• Thorough cleaning and polishing
• Fluoride treatment for adults and children
• Oral cancer screening with ViziLite technology
Comprehensive Examination
During your annual exam and six month cleaning, we will examine your teeth for any cavities and/or decay. With our advanced technology, we can spot them sooner than ever before.
DIAGNOdent
Detects the Smallest Cavities With NO Radiation.
DIAGNOdent is a hand-held instrument that quickly and comfortably detects small cavities. The advanced laser can detect decay earlier than more conventional methods, such as radiography. In fact, it can find 50 percent of the decay that goes undetected by radiography without exposing you to radiation. This laser is truly valuable in the prevention of dental problems and the promotion of good oral health.
Intraoral Cameras
Early Detection. Advanced Diagnosis.
Using a pen-sized camera, we take video of your teeth and project the live image onto a monitor in the treatment room. This image is magnified, allowing us to better see and detect any decay, cracked or leaking fillings or other problems, and helps us diagnose and treat problems earlier than was ever before possible.
Digital X-Rays
Earlier Diagnosis. Earlier Treatment.
First and foremost, digital x-rays significantly decrease your exposure time to radiation. With a digital x-ray, we take a picture of your teeth, and then almost immediately see it on a computer monitor. This large, color-enhanced image lets us get a better picture of your oral health, allowing for earlier treatment. This process is also better for the environment; because the images are digital, the films can be reused with no photo chemicals to use then throw out.
Periodontal Exam
During your teeth cleaning, we'll examine your gums for any signs of periodontal disease. This is critically important to both your oral health and overall health as recent studies have linked the bacteria associated with periodontal disease to an increased risk of:
o Stroke
o Heart Disease
o Certain Cancers (including pancreatic)
o Rheumatoid Arthritis
o Complications Controlling Blood Sugar Levels in Diabetics
o Inflammation
o Premature Birth
o Low Birth-Weight Babies
If gum disease is detected, we will recommend a course of therapy to get you and your smile back to health.
Fluoride Treatments for Adults & Children
We recommend that both children and adult patients receive fluoride treatments twice per year. Fluoride is a natural mineral that protects and strengthens the teeth against cavities and occurs naturally in water. If someone is eating too much sugar and is not exposed to fluoride, decay is inevitable. Considering this, fluoride treatment is more important than ever. Oral Cancer Screening with ViziLite and
ViziLite
According to the Oral Cancer Foundation, more than 35,000 Americans will be diagnosed with oral or pharyngeal cancer this year. Of those 35,000 newly diagnosed individuals, only half will be alive in 5 years. This number has not significantly improved in decades.
Oral cancer is one of the most curable diseases when it's caught early. That's why Dr. Tzendzalian provides oral cancer screenings with ViziLite technologies.
This simple, painless and fast exam can help us identify abnormal tissue that might develop into oral cancer. First, we will have you rinse your mouth with a cleansing solution, and then we'll dim the lighting. We will examine your mouth with ViziLite, a specially designed light technology that immediately identifies any abnormal cells.
